Applegate Boatworks' Tree Frog Pram has features from the New Jersey Garvey, the Ohio River Yawl Boat and the regular Sabot type pram. The round garvey bow has no flat surface to catch or slam into a wave. This allows a wider beam in the forward hull that gives greater stability without greater drag. The twisted side plank of the Yawl Boat gives great reserve bouancy in the stern, while retaining a narrow low-drag aft section. This is a graceful pram that doesn't look like a floating bar of soap.

Tree Frog can be used as a fly-fishing pram or as a dinghy for your cruising boat. It fits in a standard pickup bed. It is suitable for ponds, lakes, bays and quiet rivers. The pram type gives more practicality per foot than almost any other boat and I believe that my modifications have packed even more fun and grace into this small package.

This is a simple wooden boat, built with the taped seam method, which requires no jigs or buiding molds and no complicated chine joints. Just tie the computer generated hull panels together with copper wire and bond them with fiberglass tape and epoxy resin. After the resin has cured install the framing, seats and other lumber parts. The woodworking required to build the framing and seats is simple and straight forward. The boat plans include lines drawing, plank expansion and detail drawings, materials list, templates for some small parts and building instructions. Tree Frog requires two sheets of 4' x 8' x 1/4" marine plywood and about 22 board feet of lumber.

We're confident that you will be able to build yourself a Tree Frog Pram and enjoy it for many years.
